Produzent Lloyd Phillips wird 1949 in Südafrika geboren und wächst in Neu Seeland auf. Zu seinen bekanntesten Produktionen gehören "12 Monkeys" mit Bruce Willis, Quentin Tarantinos "Inglourious Basterds" und Florian Henckel von Donnersmarcks Hollywood-Einstand "The Tourist". 1981 gewinnt Phillips den Oscar für seinen Kurzfilm "The Dollar Bottom". Am 29. Januar 2013 stirbt er 63-jährig an einem Herzinfarkt, kurz bevor sein letzter Film, der von Zack Snyder inszenierte Neustart der "Superman"-Reihe "Superman: Man of Steel 3D", in die Kinos kommt.
